This year's Trade New Zealand exporter of the year supreme award has been given to GPS beacon specialist Navman rounding out a successful year for New Zealand's technology companies.

Navman had won the manufacturer's category before going on to take the overall prize. The judges said Navman was a dynamic company whose use of technology and innovation plus excellent business processes enabled it to compete in world markets.

“A key success factor for Navman is its ability to commercialise product ideas. The company has a remarkable ability to be flexible and responsive to new opportunities.”

Tacit Group, a financial services solution provider, won the best technology and communications exporter of the year award.

This is the first year the awards have been given in industry categories rather than by company size. The seven categories are: building and wood products; education; engineering; food and beverage; manufacturing; services and technology and communications.
