Kiwi Rex gets National's vote

National is upgrading its website following its appointment of Bill English as leader and the party revamping its logo.

It is implementing content management software from Rex, which has offices in Auckland, Wellington and Sydney. National Party director Alan Johnson says he prefers to keep quiet about the site for fear of alerting rival parties and says the changes are not fully implemented yet.

"Public websites do not gain us votes. We are more interested in using it for other communication purposes," he says. This would include "viral marketing", "hanging policy on" and "other things we would rather not talk about", Johnson says.

However, Rex says on its website that the party has implemented the RexComposer intranet solution and is currently implementing its RexConductor web content management solution. This includes a game feature, polling facility and online chat. It lets customers update and control their own web content and images. A recent look at National's site, for example, revealed a game to name Jim Anderton's new party.

Rex, a seven-year Microsoft-certified business partner, also claims TelstraClear, Panasonic, Unichem, Tower Trust and Roche as customers.
