TSB Bank is to move to the Linux platform across all its branches and will use Borland's Kylix development tools to create Linux banking applications.

TSB Bank is to move to the Linux platform across all its branches and will use Borland’s Kylix development tools to create Linux banking applications.

The bank has 15 branches throughout the Taranaki district.

Computerworld understands the decision to go to Linux was prompted by the aim to save on licensing costs.

A source says the decision “hasn’t been a short amount of time in coming” and is a significant move in a typically conservative industry.
