TelstraClear says its restructuring, following the merger of TelstraSaturn and Clear Communications last December, should be complete by the end of the month.

By last week some 77 people had accepted redundancy and 200 others offered new contracts.

TelstraClear spokesman Ralph Little says the number of total job losses cannot be predicted as the final structure of the combined company would only be known once the process is complete. At the time of the merger, TelstraSaturn employed 850 staff and Clear 750. Media reports have suggested as many as 600 will go.

Little says consultation is now underway with the finance and network teams, while information services should settle on its structures by early this week. The sales teams were due to complete their restructuring later this week. After all this effort, the HR staff will undergo the process.

Completed departments include customer marketing, corporate and government affairs, the legal team, change and strategy, wholesale group, product and solutions group management.
