The Commerce Commission has authorised the purchase of Clear Communications by TelstraSaturn.
TelstraSaturn had applied to buy Clear Communications from British Telecom. Commerce Commission approval was sought because of the size and scope of the deal.
In a written statement, Commerce Commission acting chair Paula Rebstock says the commission is "satisfied that the proposed acquisition would not substantially lessen competition in any market".
