Somebody to “go out and about” a lot and install and plan various networks is the task of a senior systems engineer being sought by LANscape.
The six-year-old Auckland reseller employs 17 staff and provides a LAN/WAN implementation and design services, with a core of Microsoft, Cisco and Citrix.
Marketing manager Neil Cartwright says the job involves visiting client sites and supporting their networks, including implementation. As a senior engineer, they will be involved in planning new networks and upgrades. The post also offers experience in the IP telephony system the company runs.
The company needs someone with strong frontline customer skills and a background in Novell NetWare and implementing and supporting Cisco and Microsoft network and infrastructure solutions. Initiative and problem solving skills are also needed.
In addition to being able to relate to people at a business level and having good communication skills, the post also requires the engineer to be comfortable in a pre-sales and consulting role. Qualifications needed include a Novell CNE.
Cartwright says the successful candidate is probably working in a similar role today, perhaps working for an end user company and wanting more variety. He says LANscape can offer that because of its range of clients.
The salary varies from $70,000 to $90,000 depending on skills and experience.
