Several New Zealand taxi companies are now able to more accurately record non-cash payments, thanks to technology from Auckland company Cadmus.
Wellington Combined Taxis, Queenstown Taxis and Dunedin’s City Cabs are among the firms that have taken up Cadmus’ SmartTaxi terminal, which lets them capture information from credit cards and taxi chits.
The captured data is automatically uploaded to a central host system, says Cadmus managing director Ian Bailey. The taxi company can then download a report of all credit card and corporate voucher taxi payments for any defined period.
SmartTaxi is based on the company’s K71i Eftpos platform and has 64KB of memory, Bailey says. It has been developed by Cadmus over the past year in conjunction with Cardlink, a fleet management and charge card provider.
More than 650 SmartTaxi terminals have been sold so far, Bailey says.
