Dear What Am I Worth,

I’m a Kiwi, home after the great OE that took me 20 years to complete. In that time I’ve been working all over Europe in the telecommunications sector. I have mainly been concerned with the development of mobile networks, namely network management, call ticket collection, correlation and mediation, SS7, intelligent networks and, more recently, WCDMA, UMTS, GPRS, mobile IP, voice over IP, internet via TV set top boxes, etc. Other skills include XML/HTML, Java, C++, Unix, distributed computing, TCP, UDP, IP, IMAP, LDAP, POP, SMTP, SNMP and team leading.

These have mainly been research projects for large organisations. I speak English, French, Spanish, German and some Polish. I am a hands-on developer/architect, with postgrad qualifications, previously using OMT/UML, now mainly using XP (agile processes). What am I worth on the Auckland contract market?

Icon recruitment replies: Where have you been all this time? Any agency in Auckland actively working the IT sector should be able to place you straight away. There is a high demand in Auckland for your skill sets at present. You should be able to secure around $80 to $90 per hour.
