Cuisine, one of the magazine publishing success stories of recent years, has joined the e-commerce game.

The magazine's website, developed by WebMedia on a ColdFusion platform, launched late last year with the promise that readers would soon be able to shop online too.

Now the company has teamed up with two of Auckland's leading names in gourmet food and culinary supplies - Mt Eden's Sabato and Milly's of Ponsonby respectively, both of whom already have their own online stores - to sell a range of goods, on which Cuisine makes a percentage of every sale.

Wines rated three or four stars by Cuisine are also available for purchase online, with supply carried out by NZ Liquor, which operates from the same address as the Newmarket branch of the Liquorland chain. Another wine retailer, advintage, is also selling wine via display advertising on the site.

The company is promising delivery within 24 hours in the North Island and 72 hours to the South Island.

Publisher Julie Dalzell, who established Cuisine 15 years ago, says the introduction of online shopping has been designed to meet the needs of modern living.

"We understand that people have busy working lives and we wanted to make food and entertaining as fun and convenient as possible," she says. "With specialty foods just hours away the new option means you don't have to panic when you're pushed for time and have nothing in the cupboard."

Cuisine has appointed former Xtra executive producer Nikki Bezzant as editor of its online presence.
