Hewlett-Packard is to launch a worldwide sales program in which channel partners such as systems integrators and Internet service providers will offer HP's hardware bundled with Internet software applications from third-party vendors.

Called HP Covision, the program is aimed at businesses of all sizes and is designed to make it easier for companies to choose the system they need for connecting to the Internet, HP said in a statement. The program will be available in the Asia Pacific, Europe, Japan, Latin America and North America.

HP also announced that Intel will link its own software vendor initiatives with HP's Covision marketing efforts, ensuring that systems sold through Covision channels will be available on Intel's microprocessors.

The channel program draws together three elements: HP's desktops, servers, printers, and other hardware; a portfolio of Internet applications from 21 software partners; and services from 18 value-added resellers, systems integrators and Internet service providers, HP said.

HP selected the applications partners with a view to meeting all the needs of businesses looking to set up or expand their intranets or extranets. They include applications for Internet connectivity, security and performance management; Web content development and publishing; and Internet commerce.

Application vendor partners include Check Point, NetObjects and Broadvision.
