New Apple reseller arises from ashes of old

A new Apple reseller has been established to operate out of the former Auckland premises of Computer World 1982 after the acceptance of a marketing proposal by debenture holder CED.

Ray Noonan, the managing director of the new company, Computer World, says the defunct company's problems stem from too rapid growth and undercapitalisation. He is hoping for a seamless transition from one trading entity to another and says all warranties and existing customer relations will be retained.

Noonan says specialists and sales staff have been contracted to the new operation and some of the senior ones have invested.

"There's no better way to improve your focus than to have your own money invested," he says.

The former managers will not be involved in terms of shareholding, but an independent contractor role was possible.

Noonan was, until 1989, a director of advertising firm Masius and he says the business will focus strongly on its activity as a retailer. A strong interest in the education market will continue.
