DynaLab has announced the availability of GlobalSurf, a communications tool that adds on to a user's Web browser and allows them to explore the Internet and use email in any of 23 languages.

"GlobalSurf goes in and intuitively installs the language fonts for any international Web sites you are searching for," spokeswoman Jill Pembroke says.

Based on the company's popular AsiaSurf product, GlobalSurf supports standard Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 Web browser and email applications, including Lotus's cc:Mail and Qualcomm's Eudora.

The product is being distributed over the Internet by CyberSource in the US and by Soft&Net Distribution in Europe. The recommended price is US$99 and both distributors are offering a rebate of up to 30% for a limited time.

GlobalSurf allows users to select a language for their toolbar buttons, as well as enter foreign characters using a floating, online keyboard.

It also features an integrated, online dictionary that allows users to translate among Chinese, Japanese and English.

System requirements include a CD-ROM drive and at least 12Mb of hard disk space (40Mb if the online dictionary is used).

Languages supported by GlobalSurf include Japanese, Korean, traditional and simplified Chinese, Thai, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Russian, Greek, Hungarian, Norwegian, Swedish, Polish, Turkish, Arabic and Hebrew.

CyberSource is at http://www.software.net.
