The Warehouse replaces mainframe financial system

The Warehouse retail chain, which made headlines last year for disappointing financial results, is replacing its mainframe financial software.

The Warehouse retail chain, which made headlines last year for disappointing financial results, has chosen Platinum Software's Platinum SQL financials to replace a mainframe financial system.

According to Stana Pezic, The Warehouse group retail accounting manager, the chain began looking for a new financial system in October last year. "We knew what we wanted," says Pezic. "The end users, the accounts payable manager and myself formulated a requirement list, with technical input from our IS team. We then investigated available software that could meet our needs."

The decision to buy Platinum SQL and utilise Eagle Technology's implementation skills was made at the end of June, with The Warehouse implementing the general ledger, accounts payable, cash management, tools and FRx (financial reporting) modules for 30 concurrent users. The new financial system runs under Windows NT and Microsoft SQL Server on a Digital Alpha server.

The Warehouse has 61 stores and an annual turnover of more than $500 million.
