Red Brick names distributor

Red Brick data warehouse software has entered the New Zealand market via Decision Support Systems.

Red Brick data warehouse software has entered the New Zealand market. Decision Support Systems has been given the sole distribution rights.

Red Brick Warehouse is a relational database optimised for data warehouse applications. It’s a read-only product and thus has performance advantages over other relational databases, says Sefton Thesing, Decision Support Systems solutions manager. “We believe our message about the importance of selecting a relational database which is specialised for data warehousing will be well received in the New Zealand market,” he says.

A year ago, Red Brick operated only in the North American market. The company has now established offices in the UK and Australia, and has appointed agents around the world.

Red Brick Systems Australasia was formed in August to serve the Australian and New Zealand markets.

“Red Brick’s name recognition here from its success in the US is giving us a head start in opening up the Australasian data warehouse market,” says managing director Anton Ferreira.

Red Brick was founded in 1986 with a focus on the design and implementation of large-scale decision support systems. It introduced its specialised relational database for data warehouse applications in 1992.
