You may soon be able to forget all those network, PC, email and telecommunications passwords with the arrival of voice authentication technology.
Hot on the heels of IBM’s demonstrations of OS/2 Warp’s new voice capabilities, Auckland-based Speech Recognition Systems has announced the local availability of the Veritel range of voice verification systems.
The systems must match a voice against a pre-recorded template before allowing access.
The systems, according to Speech Recognition Systems’ managing director Geoff Witton, are “quick, non-intrusive and highly accurate and have the potential to become one of today’s most effective means of security.”
A PC-based version costs $99 ex GST per desktop and the full system is $14,995 ex GST for 3000 users.
