Global One partners France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom AG and Sprint are making a push into the corporate intranet market with a new family of services called Global Intranet, according to France Telecom. Though the companies will make separate marketing efforts in their respective home countries, they will co-ordinate the introduction of the service together next year, when it will be available from 800 access points around the world, France Telecom has announced.

Global Intranet is designed to allow corporations to set up standard intranet services, with value-added functions such as interoperability of heterogeneous messaging systems, directory services and security features based on authentication functions, France Telecom says.

The three Global One partners are putting together a common set of services that can be supported by the joint venture internationally, to offer one-stop shopping for international intranet users, officials say.

The partners are working to incorporate Lotus' Notes as well as Microsoft and Netscape software into the Global Intranet services.
