Digital has announced that its AltaVista Tunnel and Firewall Internet security products will soon be available on Windows NT and BSD/OS. The products will enable users working on both Intel and Alpha platforms to more securely access information remotely from corporate intranets, and to create a barrier between private networks and the Internet, DEC officials say.
AltaVista Tunnel is expected to be available today, priced at US$3995 for 50 users; US$7995 for 200 users; and US$14,995 for unlimited users, the company says. AltaVista Firewall is expected to ship on September 30, priced at US$99 for the single-user edition, and US$995 to US$2495 for the workgroup edition, depending on the number of users and type of platform, DEC officials say.
The company announced also that the National Computing Security Association has certified AltaVista as the first approved firewall for Windows NT. (See also Digital considers AltaVisto IPO.)
