Aruba Networks has added the Department of Internal Affairs to its growing list of government agency clients.
Aruba will provide Wi-Fi access to the Internet for staff and visitors to DIA’s head office in Wellington and in their nearby Featherston Street office, which houses passports and births, deaths and marriages.
Aruba territory manager Richard Batchelar says the wireless network, which will be rolled out over several floors of the two buildings, will be secure and classified. He expects rollout to begin later this month and be completed by the end of September.
“It was a closed tender,” he says.
Aruba focuses on secure networks. It has been certified in New Zealand by the GCSB, which recommends it to government departments. So far, it has been commissioned by Defence, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and the State Services Commission. Batchelar says the company is in negotiations with Inland Revenue.
The company, which went to IPO in 2007, has had a presence in New Zealand for four years.
