Dimension Data wins outsourcing contract with Steel and Tube

Outsourced IT management to enable collaboration for 41 distribution sites

Local steel products supplier, Steel and Tube, has appointed Global ICT solutions and services provider, Dimension Data, to enhance its technology systems with a new outsourcing contract.

The aim of the partnership is to enable seamless collaboration for Steel and Tube’s 41 distribution sites and 700 employees.

Having already outsourced its technology management to DiData, Steel and Tube CIO, Andrea Gallimore, said the company has, as a result, been able to implement a more efficient and robust IT system to provide employees with increased functionality.

Gallimore reports that this has also triggered cost, energy and time savings.

According to DiData southern region general manager, Nick Halikas, the provider’s outsourcing model has provided Steel and Tube with a more responsive and flexible solution which will mitigate large capital outlays and the need to recruit scarce and expensive technology skills.

“Over the next month, DiData will also begin to provide service desk and infrastructure support, proactively managing and maintaining our IT systems to ensure capability and capacity that meets our future technology needs,” Gallimore said.

Steel and Tube entered the agreement as part of its goals to build IT capabilities to support its One Company approach.

While DiData said the contract is “significant,” it did not reveal the sum.
