Gen-i to offer Samsung Knox as a service

Gen-i ran a three week trial of Knox in September and is now offering the solution as part of Gen-i’s Managed Mobility services.

Gen-i, Telecom’s ICT services division, and Samsung have partnered to launch Samsung Knox, a mobile phone security solution designed to protect business applications on employee smartphones, in the NZ market.

The solution’s Container feature allows businesses to create a zone on employee handsets for corporate apps, and prevents data and apps from outside the zone to interact with or copy from the business apps.

Only business applications can operate within the Container, which is accessed by entering a code/PIN and can be controlled by the company IT team. The Knox solution can work only with Samsung devices currently.

Gen-i ran a three week trial of Knox in September and is now offering the solution as part of Gen-i’s Managed Mobility services.

Gen-i COO Jo Allison said, “We are still in the process of finalising the cost of the solution to customers, but I can say it will be very nominal. We are looking at something like $5 per device, per month.”
