Xero launches integration blueprint for rural solution providers

Farming Integration Guide intended to unify disconnect in traditional software

Online accounting software vendor, Xero, has released a Farming Integration Guide which provides a blueprint to assist rural solution providers to connect to Xero and deliver management and accounting solutions.

According to Xero chief executive officer (CEO), Rod Drury, the blueprint is a key step toward the full integration between farmers, rural accountants, rural suppliers, banks, and software providers as it eliminates the disconnect among traditional software.

In its blog post, Xero claims it is solving the problem of disconnected software by helping farm solution providers use its API to connect the farm management side of their business to accounting in Xero. It demonstrates its concept via the image pictured above.

“We have a vision for how the farming sector could work and have been able to work with industry leaders to develop a framework that will make life better for all participants,” Drury said. “This foundation will see increased investment in technology to improve farm performance.

Developers which deploy the Farming Integration Guide receive the necessary resources to integrate with the vendor.

Two farming solutions providers, MyFarm and Cashmanager Rural, have already deployed the solution.

The latter’s director, Brian Eccles, said, “Our online strategy is all about making the sharing of data a natural part of our applications to ensure farmers and accountants do not have to enter data twice. The development path Xero has outlined shows great promise for simplifying the process.”
