Fujitsu NZ to deploy Foodstuffs North Island's new infrastructure

According to the firm, the win will see Fujitsu deploy an infrastructure of over 3000 integrated ETERNUS storage units, PRIMERGY servers, and Fujitsu POS controllers and touchscreens.

Fujitsu has won a multi-million dollar contract to supply Foodstuffs North Island (FSNI) with server architecture and PoS (point of sale) equipment to support the operation of nearly 200 PAK'nSAVE, New World, Four Square and Gilmours stores in the upper North Island.

According to the firm, the win will see Fujitsu deploy an infrastructure of over 3000 integrated ETERNUS storage units, PRIMERGY servers, and Fujitsu POS controllers and touchscreens.

The rollout is scheduled to be completed by mid-2015, and Fujitsu will continue to provide support and warranty for all devices.

FSNI has commissioned the new infrastructure as part of its current business transformation systems and technology upgrade programme.

Peter Muggleston, CIO at FSNI, said: “Fujitsu’s comprehensive infrastructure refresh will play a significant role in our transformational systems and technology renewal programme and will ultimately enable FSNI to take our business systems capability and customer experience to new levels.”

Jo Healey, MD of Fujitsu NZ, said: “Fujitsu is very proud of its ability to demonstrate to FSNI a commitment to service linked to a nationwide capability. We are well positioned to play a significant role in the NZ retail sector through our POS, infrastructure and support services and are delighted to be working with Foodstuffs North Island.”
