Australian law firm implements Good Tech's solution

The deployment follows a successful trial of GFE at the law firm, where the IT department tested the levels of control possible with the solution over corporate data and applications.

Slater and Gordon Lawyers, an Australian law firm, has deployed Good Technology's Good for Enterprise (GFE) to support the firm’s corporate and BYOD smartphones and tablets, replacing an existing Microsoft ActiveSync application.

The deployment follows a successful trial of GFE at the law firm, where the IT department tested the levels of control possible with the solution over corporate data and applications.

“As more employees wanted to use their own smartphones, ActiveSync was no longer a viable solution for us,” explained Eric Yew, infrastructure manager at the law firm.

“For example, our staff did not want the IT department imposing device-wide logins and policy on their own phones and impeding access to their personal applications."

“Good’s secure container approach means that corporate and personal information is strictly separated on the device, which is an important distinction from an employee perspective when they are supplying their own phone,” continued Yew.

“We also liked the fact that GFE offers multi-platform support.”

Founded in 1935, Slater and Gordon specialises in insurance claims, commercial, family and asbestos-related law.

“GFE is a very cost effective on-ramp for organisations either beginning or in the early stage of their mobile strategy, or what we call the ‘Run’ phase,” said Gavin Jones, VP Sales and GM A/NZ at Good Technology. “From there, organisations will typically move to the ‘Grow’ part of their mobile journey, which is mainly about enhanced productivity.

“The third and final stage of the mobile journey, and one that we are very excited about partnering with all our clients on, is the ‘Transform’ phase. This is where organisations are re-engineering business processes, or creating entirely new processes, by leveraging the power of mobility.”
