Tait Communications has won a contract to upgrade and manage Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) digital mobile radio communications system as the Australian city prepares for the G20 Leaders Summit in November.

The communications system upgrade will see Tait deliver support and maintenance services throughout the project as well as design, deploy and support a digital mobile radio network.

Brisbane Airport (BNE) is the third largest airport in Australia by passenger numbers and is the major gateway to Queensland.

Managed services is a key part of our growth strategy.

“Our clients are now looking to us to provide the expertise to not only design and install their communications systems but to manage and support them as well,” says James Kyd, Tait chief marketing officer, in a statement. “Managed services is a key part of our growth strategy and will enable us to deliver increased value to clients, internationally and domestically, on a long-term basis.”

The G20 Leaders Summit is expected to bring around 4000 international delegates and 3000 domestic and international media to Brisbane later this year.

Tait, with headquarters in Christchurch, provides radio communications systems to public safety agencies, utilities and transportation agencies including NZ Police, Air France, London Bus and British Columbia Rail.
