Enable to provision more ChCh schools with fibre broadband services

The company will complete its third year of fibre broadband roll-out in Christchurch and towns in Waimakariri and Selwyn districts over the coming weeks, bringing the total number of schools that can access its services to 113.

Enable, the fibre broadband network provider, has announced plans to make its services available to 33 more schools within its coverage area by the end of 2015.

The schools covered include Avonhead School, Bromley School, Cashmere Primary School, Christchurch East School, Christchurch South Intermediate, Heathcote Valley School, Rowley Avenue School, Seven Oaks Education Centre, St Anne's School (Woolston), Tamariki School, Templeton School and Woodend School.

“Delivering the benefits of fibre broadband in schools has been a significant focus of Enable since the business was first established in 2007,” said Enable CEO Steve Fuller.

“Being able to announce our plans to make fibre broadband services available to 33 more schools is a very positive milestone.”

According to the firm, it is in the process of contacting all the schools to let them know a timeline on when services will be made available to them.

Enable is a partnership between Crown Fibre Holdings Limited and Christchurch City owned Enable Services Limited to build and operate the ultra-fast broadband (UFB) network for Christchurch and surrounding centres.

Its intention is to deliver fibre broadband services to up to 180,000 homes, schools and businesses in Christchurch, Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Lincoln, Prebbleton and Rolleston.
