Thorn succeeds Stone to lead NZ TCF

Thorn was most recently General Manager of the Parliamentary Service and previously General Manager of the Commerce Commission.

Geoff Thorn has been appointed as CEO of the New Zealand Telecommunications Forum (TCF) and will start in his new role next week.

He succeeds David Stone to the position.

Thorn has extensive knowledge of the regulatory and legislative environment, most recently as General Manager of the Parliamentary Service and previously as General Manager of the Commerce Commission.

TCF Board Appointment Committee member Mat Bolland says Thorn's experience across a range of regulated industries and leadership in upgrading technology within parliament will bring policy and practical expertise to the role.

"We are delighted to have Geoff lead the TCF. His knowledge and networks in Government and a track record of building consensus will be an asset to an industry that is making significant investment in critical New Zealand infrastructure," says Bolland.

Thorn brings a good understanding of the regulatory environment and an independent and objective view of an industry that is key to New Zealand's future economic success.
