Solnet registers increased revenue backed by growth in the digital domain

Staff numbers grew during the year from 132 to 155.

Privately held Solnet posted revenue of around $25 million for its June 30 year ending, which indicates a growth of 25 per cent, says managing director Mark Botherway.

“We’ve invested heavily in research and development and we’re just starting to see the results,” he says. “We’ve also focused on improving on our chosen areas.”

Major growth came in the digital domain, with customers like Fonterra and Lotto, for which Solnet is developing games. Botherway says there was also big growth in enterprise support, where the company now has 40 staff committed to that domain.

“The primary sector, media, finance and transport were also growth areas with million dollar class clients.”

Staff numbers grew during the year from 132 to 155.

Botherway says Solnet has spent millions of dollars developing what he calls a straight-through processing platform, otherwise known as omni-channel. “It provides productivity improvement from the back end through to supporting any client. We’ve got a cornerstone client which we hope to launch in the near future, and half-a-dozen other opportunities.”

The platform, he says, describes business rules, processes and user experiences as one process. “It can deliver in months, rather than years, by extending deeply into the enterprise.” Solnet became an ERP provider two years ago, with OpenERP, now known as ODOD. “We’re about to sign our fourth customer. Waterforce, which provides irrigation to the primary sector, is our main client.”

The company has also established an information management practice.

Looking forward, he sees continuing growth for Solnet in digital and a massive opportunity in government, which he says is now more joined up and adopting a more enlightened approach to the market. “They’ve moved toward a more open discussion of challenges.”

Auckland has been strong for the company, growing 35 per cent in each of the past two years.
