New Polycom A/NZ VP aims to "spearhead" local business

“Australia and New Zealand are key markets which present us with great opportunities for pushing ahead with work-style innovation."

Polycom has appointed Paul Newell as vice-president of Australia and New Zealand, responsible for all operational aspects of business in the region.

Newell’s appointment is a strategic move to spearhead the A/NZ business, one of Polycom’s largest markets in Asia-Pacific.

With substantial local and international experience, Newell is also widely recognised as an industry heavyweight in the channel and partner community, holding considerable knowledge and experience of the Polycom business and market landscape.

He will work closely with recently-appointed President, Polycom Asia Pacific, Geoff Thomas to drive revenue growth and operational excellence in A/NZ.

“Australia and New Zealand are key markets which present us with great opportunities for pushing ahead with work-style innovation, through the growth of our UC solutions across enterprise and government,” said Geoff Thomas, President Asia Pacific, Polycom.

“I am delighted to announce Paul’s appointment as Vice President, A/NZ. His extensive knowledge of our business in Australia and New Zealand combined with his strong Asia Pacific leadership experience, are vital in leading our strategic direction in the region.”

A longstanding Polycom leader, Newell was appointed interim President for Polycom Asia Pacific between February and June 2014.

Before joining the company in 2008, Newell held a number of key positions within the business, most recently as Vice President, Systems Engineering & Service Sales, Asia Pacific.

In this role, he was responsible for driving the region’s strategic initiatives, partner relations to include UC Alliances, Service Providers and Systems Integrators, and business operations.

“I have engaged with the A/NZ market for over 12 years now in various roles, and wanted to have more of a direct impact,” Newell adds.

“This is one of the most exciting markets in the world that is constantly at the forefront of technology adoption.

"I am excited to be working with such a professional and hardworking team of people, and look forward to taking on this important leadership role to drive sales success and work even more closely with our partners.”

With nearly twenty years of technology experience, Newell was also previously Director of Sales at JDSU Asia-Pacific, a provider of communications test, measurement solutions and optical products for the IT industry.

During his tenure, Newell was responsible for the formulation, coordination and implementation of sales, marketing, and operational programmes across the region.
