That's the iTICKET... NZ firm bags Deloitte Fast 500 ranking

“Our proprietary technology is one of the key ways we can deliver on this promise and we’re constantly working to make sure we stay ahead of the game.”

New Zealand owned event ticketing company iTICKET has won a place on the 2014 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific index, as one of the 500 fastest growing technology organisations across the region.

An Auckland operated company, which specialises in online and mobile ticketing, Managing Director Reece Preston attributes the result to a constant commitment to innovation.

“We are totally focused on delivering the best experience for our event promoter clients, as well as the end consumer,” he says.

“Our proprietary technology is one of the key ways we can deliver on this promise and we’re constantly working to make sure we stay ahead of the game.”

Preston sats that while the event ticketing industry is “fiercely competitive”, the company continues to go from strength-to-strength with an 80% growth in revenue over the last two years.

“Winning a place on the Deloitte index is a tribute to our ‘can-do’ philosophy,” he adds.

The company has just moved to cloud computing platform Microsoft Windows Azure, with Preston citing the organisation as “early adopters” of what was at the time, an emerging technology.

“We started the development process in 2010,” he recalled, “and by the time we rolled out at the end of 2011, we definitely knew that we’d made the right decision to go with Azure.

“This platform, combined with our in-house ability to innovate, means we have developed a compelling and sustainable competitive advantage over the bigger players in this market.

“We can provide services which are flexible and scalable, meaning we can tailor requirements for a smaller, boutique theatre event at a venue like The Basement, but ramp things up for something huge like Big Boys Toys or Armageddon Expo.”

As a result, Preston says that iTICKET can now manage event ticketing for any sized event, anywhere in the world – and all from their boutique office in Ponsonby, Auckland.

“In terms of numbers, we’ve seen 40% growth in total clients since we introduced Windows Azure, and reduced annual hosting costs by 30% while doubling our capacity at the flick of a switch,” he adds.

“Our ticket sales continue to achieve phenomenal growth year-on-year and we’re ideally positioned for future growth.”

Preston says the new technology means that iTICKET is now geared up to take on larger and larger events, and expects to be doing a greater volume of large-venue and sporting events in 2015.
