Megaport platform opens for business in Auckland data centre

Software-based communications provider Megaport has opened its platform to all tenants and users in the data centre in Auckland, New Zealand.

Software-based communications provider Megaport has opened its platform to all tenants and users in the data centre in Auckland, New Zealand.

Users at the 6 Orbit Drive location will be able to reach each other using Megaport’s virtual cross connect, reach their cloud and hosted assets through services such as Direct Connect to Amazon Web Services, and dozens of locations around Australia.

With a port into the Megaport fabric at leading data centres worldwide, users can also connect to a variety of resources, including Internet peering with many of the major content drivers, private connections to their hosted and cloud services, and interconnection to carriers that can take their data to millions of addresses worldwide.

"We're very happy to extend the Megaport fabric to this strategic location,” says Denver Maddux, CEO, Megaport.

“We see both our current and future partners here will use our platform to extend the suite of partner services to their customer base.”

Maddux says Megaport users can do all this in real time from the Megaportal or the free mobile app; or developers can use an advanced set of APIs to write applications that orchestrate between their services, IT infrastructure, and the Megaport Platform.

“At Datacom we believe that establishing an eco-system of IT service providers at our data centres provides unequalled flexibility and choice for our customers," a Datacom spokesperson told Reseller News.

"We reinforce that position through a committed position of long term neutrality, be that for network providers, service providers or cloud systems.

"This position protects the decisions by our customers to locate their IT environments at our Orbit and Kapua data centres.

"In short, our data centre facilities are open to all telcos, network and infrastructure service providers because we know choice is a great thing for customers. We don’t publicise who is in our facilities without their permission.”
