Local boost for 600 Kiwis as Dimension Data receives golden global employee rating

“We think the team is engaged because they have the autonomy and flexibility of a local provider, backed by the resources and support of a global team."

Global IT solutions and services provider Dimension Data has been certified as one of the top five employers in the world for outstanding employee offerings, based on annual independent research carried out by the Top Employers Institute.

The stringent criteria that organisations are assessed on include talent management, leadership, training and development and initiatives to attract, retain and engage employee talent.

“A service provider is only as good as its team, and the ICT space is no exception,” says Jo Healey, CEO, Dimension Data New Zealand. “We aim to keep the team productive, engaged and focussed on delivering outstanding client outcomes.

“As we continue to transform from a systems integrator to a services integrator, our work in this area becomes even more important, so we’re thrilled to be recognised for it.”

For Healey, the global award provides “great recognition” for the local team, which houses 600 people across New Zealand.

“We think the team is engaged because they have the autonomy and flexibility of a local provider, backed by the resources and support of a global team,” Healey adds.

“It’s a great benefit of being part of an international organisation – laser focus on local problems, combined with the resources of a global enterprise to solve them.”

With direct presence in 58 countries across the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East & Africa, Healey believes the accolade validates Dimension Data’s vision of investing in its people and helping them to accelerate their ambitions.

“Our extensive research concluded that Dimension Data Global forms part of a select group of employers that advance employee conditions worldwide,” comments Judith Oude Sogtoen, Director of International Business Development for the Top Employers Institute.

“Their people are well taken care of. Now that they have received the Top Employers Global 2015 certification, they can truly consider themselves at the top of an exclusive group of the world’s best employers.”

Echoing Healey’s comments, Brett Dawson, Dimension Data’s Group CEO says the company is “extremely proud” to be recognised as one of the top five organisations in the world.

“Dimension Data’s purpose is to make a difference - first and foremost for our clients, our valuable and talented people, as well as our shareholders and our societies,” he adds.

“This accolade validates our philosophy of investing in our constantly expanding team of over 26,000 employees and helping them to develop personally and professionally.”

In the highly competitive IT landscape, Marilyn Chaplin, Dimension Data’s Group Executive, Human Resources says the organisation demonstrates a “clear strategy to attract, engage, develop and retain talent” across all levels of the business.

“Our innovative Fast-Track programme helps attract and retain young talent in our organisation, and our global Leadership Forum provides a multi-layered approach to support the ongoing development of our leaders,” she adds.

“The investments we make in our people empower them to grow their skills and stay current in the fast-moving world of technology.

“Every employee has access to a world-class cloud-based learning platform that affords access to the very latest in education opportunities. I believe the winning culture we’ve created is one of our greatest assets and really makes Dimension Data an outstanding place to work."
