SharePoint speciality key as Theta acquires former Microsoft NZ Partner Awards winner

"The acquisition further enhances our SharePoint offering, which sits at the intersection of many things we do."

New Zealand IT consultancy firm Theta has completed its acquisition of SharePoint consultancy IGA Systems, one of the few specialist SharePoint firms across the country.

Following the deal, for an undisclosed fee, Theta’s SharePoint team now grows to eight specialist consultants in Auckland and Christchurch.

IGA Systems, established in 2005, is widely considered a market leader in this technology with the company recognised several times at the Microsoft New Zealand Partner Awards.

Terms of the agreement will see Ignacio Montenegro, IGA Systems’ Managing Director, join Theta as Head of SharePoint and Collaboration Solutions, along with three other experienced SharePoint consultants.

"We’re excited IGA Systems has become part of an organisation that fits so well with our aspirations and culture," Montenegro says.

"Theta is a dynamic company with the resources and expertise to support our existing customers.

"Together we’re really well positioned to grow the SharePoint area of the business."

As a key component of Microsoft’s business application suite, SharePoint is part of Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud desktop offering, and one of its fastest growing products in the market.

SharePoint is also central for Microsoft Business Intelligence delivery and is increasingly a platform for delivering line of business applications.

“This is a great opportunity for Theta, and for our customers," says Rob Lee, CEO, Theta. "Ignacio and his team have a wealth of experience and a fantastic reputation in the market.

"The acquisition further enhances our SharePoint offering, which sits at the intersection of many things we do."

According to Lee, the IGA Systems acquisition extends Theta’s SharePoint team, which recently achieved silver status in Content and Collaboration, Microsoft’s SharePoint competency.

"Achieving silver partner status depends on customer references, and demonstrates consistent performance in a particular business area," Lee adds.

"With IGA Systems on board, Theta now has even more capacity to deliver great content and collaboration solutions."
