Broadband agenda key as Chorus appoints new board member

"Chorus has an incredibly important role to play in New Zealand’s future success."

Chorus has today announced that Murray Jordan will be appointed to its Board on 1 September 2015.

Jordan is moving on from his role as Managing Director of Foodstuffs North Island where he has led the merger of Foodstuffs Auckland and Wellington to create a leading grocery retail and wholesale business with $7 billion per annum of retail sales.

"Murray brings deep experience in the management of a highly customer focused organisation, and also in navigating extremely complex stakeholder environments," says Jon Hartley, Chorus Chairman.

"We look forward to him joining the Board and bringing those skills to bear on the future success of Chorus as we continue to work with our retail service providers to deliver great broadband experience to end users."

Prior to joining Foodstuffs, Jordan held management roles in the property investment and development sectors.

Jordan says that he is looking forward to contributing his skills and experience to Chorus.

"Chorus has an incredibly important role to play in New Zealand’s future success," he says.

"Bringing New Zealand better broadband underpins so much of what the country wants to achieve both in the economy and in our wider society.

"The Chorus Board has determined that Jordan will be an independent director.
