4K with a difference comes to NZ as LG launches Ultra HD OLED TV

4K Ultra HD OLED TV now available for sale in selected stores around the country.

LG New Zealand has announced that the 4K Ultra HD OLED TV is now available for sale in selected stores around the country.

Launched to the press in Wellington, the electronics firm is billing the release as a “true New Zealand first for home entertainment”.

The screen of the EG960T offers “perfect black” and vivid colours, which is matched a newly improved Smart TV operating system, webOS 2.0 and a 6-Step Ultra HD Upscaler Engine - all packaged in a slim unit.

While availability will be initially limited, LG claims it is expected that the rollout will expand into more stores towards the end of the year.

For Kiwis however, the the LG 65-inch 65EG960T is available for $11,999, while the 55-inch model (55EG960T) will sell for $7,999.

“We’ve seen a rapid increase in OLED sales on earlier models in 2015, and we expect this trend to continue,” says Kieran Chapman, Trade Marketing Manager, LG New Zealand.

“We’re thrilled that we can offer Kiwis a TV that combines OLED with another great LG technology, 4K Ultra HD.”

According to Chapman, the debut of LG’s 4K Ultra HD OLED TV is also well timed to take advantage of 4K Netflix content.

“If you’re looking to upgrade your TV, now is the time,” he adds.

“We are extremely confident that the LG 4K Ultra HD OLED TV will impress anyone watching TV, movies or playing video games - and now that we have Netflix in New Zealand, television and movie buffs have a good excuse to watch 4K content on a screen that will really do it justice.”
