Spark Digital has been appointed to the Telecommunications as a Service (TaaS) panel in multiple categories, as the government looks to draw on the telco’s IT service offerings and investment in infrastructure.

As one of New Zealand’s largest ICT providers for New Zealand government agencies, Spark Digital CEO Tim Miles was quick to praise the government on creating its new model for delivering services.

“TaaS will simplify the way our customers interact with us and consume their services, it’s the new standard for how telecommunications is delivered and purchased,” Miles says.

“We have brought together world-class tools and services with our significant investment in infrastructure to ensure our customers have the best ICT services available.

“Spark Digital is uniquely positioned to provide Desktop as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service (through Revera), IT Managed Services, Hardware and Licencing and now - Telecommunications as a Service.

“We are connecting all IaaS data centres with high speed optical infrastructure making fast access to secure information a reality for our clients, and by shifting the focus to ‘digital first’ we’ll enable a more efficient public sector who will provide better services to New Zealand citizens and businesses.

“The next step will see us roll out this new way of purchasing to our private sector clients.”

Miles says the TaaS supplier panel will provide a range of cross-government telecommunications and managed security services sourced from a competitive, innovative market which are easy for agencies to access and assist agencies to provide better public services.

In keeping with the government message, Miles says TaaS aims to change the way telecommunications services are managed and used by government agencies.

The panel is administered by the Government Chief Information Officer at the Department of Internal Affairs, and reflects the goals of the Government ICT Strategy and Action Plan.
