Enterprise on the edge of disruption as Hewlett Packard Enterprise expands Internet of Things capabilities

Tech giant reveals Intel partnership.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has revealed new Internet of Things (IoT) systems and networking solutions, in a move to better enable enterprise to collect, process and analyse data.

In keeping with industry trends, the announcement comes at a time when analyst firm Gartner predicts that 6.4 billion connected “things” will be in use in 2016, up 30 percent from 2015.

As outlined by Gartner, the rapid proliferation of IoT devices, data and connectivity has the power to enable the creation of new offerings, improved efficiency, better decision making, and more effective risk management across organisations.

“Hewlett Packard Enterprise has one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of IoT solutions and services,” says Antonio Neri, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Enterprise Group, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

“The new solutions are important elements of our strategy of delivering more connectivity and computing power at ‘the edge,’ and helping customers maximise the value and minimise the risks from IoT at the speed of business.”

Today, Neri subs delivering business outcomes quickly and securely requires intelligence to enable real-time decisions at the edge.

As part of the announcement, Neri adds that the tech giant is introducing the first in a series of new systems.

“The new HPE Edgeline IoT Systems are the result of a joint partnership between HPE and Intel to help deliver proven, open solutions for the IoT market,” Neri adds.

“The HPE Edgeline IoT Systems 10 and 20 sit at the network edge, enabling customers to securely aggregate and analyse data in real-time and control devices and things.”

Available in ruggedised, mobile and rack-mounted versions, Neri says the systems have been certified to work with Microsoft Azure IoT Suite and will run Windows 10 IoT for a wide spectrum of industrial, logistics, transportation, healthcare, government and retail applications.

In addition, Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, also unveiled a cloud-based beacon management solution for multivendor Wi-Fi networks.

According to Neri, the new, enterprise-grade IoT Aruba Sensor is the next wave of the Aruba Mobile Engagement solutions.

“The sensors combine a small Wi-Fi client and BLE radio, which enables organisations to remotely monitor and manage Aruba Beacons across existing multivendor Wi-Fi networks from a central location using the Meridian cloud service,” Neri adds.

“The new Sensors are designed to allow any company to introduce location-based services, using Aruba Beacons and Sensors at the edge, and the Meridian cloud service to interface with business and analytics applications.”
