Huawei has unveiled details behind its “All Cloud” strategy, with the Chinese networking giant aiming to “fully Cloudify” all product lines and solutions within the coming years.

Based around the need to better support operators as they transition into digital service providers, Huawei rotating CEO Eric Xu likens the move to an “all IP” environment, triggered by the rise of digitalisation across the marketplace.

“We hope as we move towards all Cloud, Huawei can become an active advocate, promoter and ultimately a leader in all Cloud, so that fully Cloud products and solutions can enable our telco and enterprise customers to be successful,” Xu said.

Revealed during the company’s Global Analyst Summit in China this week, Xu said Huawei’s Cloud strategy is focused on delivering a “ROADS experience”, building on plans 12 months prior.

During the Global Analyst Summit 2015, Huawei proposed the Real-time, On-demand, All-online, DIY, and Social (ROADS) experience model to define the features of a “superior user experience”.

“At the core of Huawei's full Cloudification strategy is the “All Cloud” of ICT infrastructure in four respects - equipment, network, services, and operations,” Xu said.

“The strategy aims to create systematic strengths in pooled hardware resources, fully distributed software architecture, and full automation.

“Huawei is committed to becoming an advocate, promoter, and leader of full Cloudification.”

For Xu, digital transformation presents many opportunities as well as challenges.

“In the carrier business, we aim to deliver a ROADS experience and help operators develop their competitiveness to seize new market opportunities including Internet of Things, video, and Cloud services,” Xu added.

“We will also help migrate networks and operations systems to the Cloud and help operators establish advantages in agile operations.

“In the enterprise business, we will leverage Cloud computing, Software-Defined Networking, and Big Data technologies to facilitate enterprise digitalisation towards agile and smart operations.”
