HP New Zealand has signed a technology partnership with Team New Zealand, providing premium range devices ahead of the 35th Americas Cup in Bermuda in 2017.

Terms of the deal will see the tech giant provide its premium computing devices including the HP ZBook workstations and EliteBook series, as well as performance engineering solutions to the Kiwi sailing team.

“To have HP join us as an official supplier is a landmark step for the team,” says Grant Dalton, CEO, Team New Zealand.

“We have an onshore group of performance engineers and software experts constantly assessing our boat and its external conditions for slight gains, which could shave crucial seconds off as it moves around the track.

“HP’s technology and expertise will enable us to bring our skills and experience to the fore.”

In addition, HP will work with Team New Zealand engineers to help maximise the side’s performance throughout the America’s Cup World Series in the lead-up to Bermuda, to help avoid a repeat of the 2013 America’s Cup, when the Kiwis blew an 8-1 lead in San Francisco.

“New Zealanders love the America’s Cup and we are excited about HP's partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand,” adds Maddy Simpson, Head of Marketing, HP New Zealand.

“HP has always been at the forefront of innovation, and our technology will allow Emirates Team New Zealand to build a dynamic environment to enhance its team's performance both on-and-off the water.”
