Web protection provider SafeDNS comes to NZ

SafeDNS established a node in Auckland in July

SafeDNS, a provider of cloud-based services for web content filtering and parental control has announced its entry into the Australian and New Zealand Market, saying the move will give corporate and residential Internet users the opportunity to significantly raise their level of internet security.

The company says it is also establishing a partnership network offering “special programs for partners in the IT services sector looking for profitable ways to expand their range of products and services providing customers with an additional layer of online security.”

SafeDNS established a node in Auckland in July, due, it said, “to the growing number of SafeDNS users in this vast region of the world.” It said the new node would enable it to resolve DNS queries faster and safer for SafeDNS users in the region and for the company's customers all over the globe.

A year earlier the domain name safedns.co.nz was registered, by Auckland-based NZRS limited, sole director Jon Hautler. The site is one page only. It offers DNS firewall services. Computerworld has enquired of Hautler if he has any connection with SafeDNS, but had not received a reply at the time of going to press.

SafeDNS said it had already received “quite a positive feedback from the customers and partners in Australia and New Zealand” that it is already working with. “Having deployed SafeDNS users find real value for their money as all its solutions are efficient, cost effective and user-friendly,” it said.

SafeDNS was founded in 2010 to develop cloud-based web filtering solutions. In 2013 a commercial version of the service for home, educational and corporate users was launched. In 2014 the company released its web filtering platform for ISPs and mobile operators. The company claims its products and cloud service are used by more than 300 telcos, 4 000 organisations and tens of thousands of home users and about one million of anonymous free users worldwide.

In 2015 the service was named Approved Parental Control Product by AV-Comparatives. In February 2016 SafeDNS became Editor’s Choice for Content Management & Filtering Solutions in 2016 Cyber Defense Magazine Infosec Awards.
