Bigpipe app enables broadband users to self-test

ISP's app lets customers check for faults

New Zealand ISP Bigpipe has added a feature to its Bigpipe App, available from the Apple Store or Google Play, that enables customers to check their broadband connection for faults.

Bigpipe product manager, Sarvajith Ravishankar, said that Bigpipe had implemented technology that enabled it to remotely identify the cause of many faults. “Once a problem's been identified, customers can instantly send the results of the testing to our customer support centre, which means much faster and more satisfying resolutions for problems,” he said.

The app allows users to prioritise different traffic types on their service. They can choose between Streaming, Browsing, Downloading, Communication, and Gaming modes. A mode selector shows what sort of traffic is being used at any given time.

Bigpipe has also announced plans to upgrade all customers on its Elite 200/200 fibre plan to Gigabit speeds wherever Gigabit is available, at no extra charge.
