Assurity launches Pivotal Cloud Foundry practice

Assurity Consulting has launched a practice specialising in providing services around Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

It says that, by bringing together its digital advisory, DevOps, Agile, Lean business assurance and testing delivery capabilities it now offers “a range of innovative products and solutions that help organisations achieve digital transformation through delivery.”

Assurity is an advanced partner in the Pivotal Ready Partner Program and says it will use Pivotal Cloud Foundry as the technical platform for Lean startup, innovation hubs and internal innovation teams. “Government and enterprise clients that engage Assurity will be able to take their ideas from MVP [minimum viable product] through alpha and beta builds and transition to live in a scalable way without rework,” it claims.

According to Assurity, Pivotal Cloud Foundry enables proofs of concept from the first stages of an accelerator process to become the basis of highly scalable, robust, live user services. “By using the platform to build and deploy software at startup speeds, Assurity’s digital delivery will be an exemplar in how software is built and operated,” it says.

Assurity’s COO, Darren McTigue, said: “Delivering software using the best digital thinking, practice, process and technologies is the ideal way to charge up transformational change in an organisation. Pivotal Cloud Foundry is the world-class technology we’ve chosen for our innovation solutions.

“It enhances developer productivity, enables operational excellence and provides the enterprise-grade security, scalability, availability and operational control that our clients need to innovate smarter and faster. It makes perfect sense for us to become part of the Pivotal Ready Partner Program.”

Cloud Foundry is open source software launched by VMware in 2011 and billed as “The industry’s first open Platform as a Service (PaaS) … architected specifically for cloud computing environments and delivered as a service from enterprise data centres and public cloud service providers.”

Pivotal is a spinoff from VMware’s then parent EMC (both VMware and EMC are now part of Dell) that developed a version of the open source product with all the features needed to support commercial users. In 2014 it set up a formal open governance model for Cloud Foundry, Cloud Foundry Foundation, along with EMC, HP, IBM, Rackspace, SAP and VMware.
