Toshiba Portégé X20 now available in NZ

The Portégé is Toshiba’s first notebook compatible with the new Toshiba Thunderbolt 3 dock

Toshiba has introduced into the New Zealand and Australian markets its tablet/laptop combo the Portégé X20, based on the 7th generation Intel Core vPro processor.

The Portégé is Toshiba’s first notebook compatible with the new Toshiba Thunderbolt 3 dock, which will be available later this quarter. This connects through the USB-C port and, according to Toshiba, “allows for easy expansion of up to 2 x 4K monitors, 2 x additional USB-C devices, 4 x USB 3 devices, gigabit Ethernet and audio in/out.”

Toshiba claims that an external Thunderbolt 3 drive enable data transfer speeds of up to 2,500Mbps, which it says is up to 20 times faster than a USB 3 2.5” HDD.

The Portégé X20 runs Windows 10 Pro, has a 12.5-inch diagonal Full HD multi-touch wide viewing angle display, Intel 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a PCIe solid state drive.

It measures 15.4mm thin and weighs 1.1kg. Battery life is claimed to be up to 13 hours. Toshiba claims “enterprise-level security” through the adoption of facial authentication using two infrared cameras via Windows Hello sign-in and Trusted Platform Module technologies.

Trusted Platform Module is an international standard for a secure cryptoprocessor: A dedicated microcontroller that provides security at the hardware level by integrating cryptographic keys into a device.
