Vodafone seeks to support promising startups with xone

Vodafone has launched its second xone accelerator programme offering funding packages worth $150,000 that include cash, office space, workshops, events, and network access to the 10 startups selected to join the programme.

In the first Xone program last year 10 companies were selected from 170 applications. According to Vodafone consumer director Matt Williams, collectively these companies have generated $9m in new revenue, attracted $7m in capital funding, created 25 new jobs, and are now operating in 12 countries.

Williams said that, this year, “Vodafone is particularly interested to see where clever Kiwis are looking to take things in quickly evolving areas such as health technology, IoT, artificial intelligence or big data.”

Vodafone says it provides each successful applicant with a tailor-made programme based on its individual needs ant that includes access to its customer testing panel, software/hardware vendors; product design teams; research and development; connections to internal Vodafone employees and global expertise.

The programme has three phases:

- Problem-Solution Fit. Is there a clear need or problem that you are looking to solve?

- Product-Market Fit. Do you have a solution that satisfies a validated market demand?

- Scale Ready. Is your business model robust and ready to scale through a partnership with Vodafone?

Applications are now open and close on 12 May, details at https://vodafonexone.co.nz
