James Pascoe switches SAP support to Rimini Street

New Zealand retailer James Pascoe Group has switched to Rimini Street support for SAP ERP applications used by its eight retail brands in New Zealand and Australia.

The group owns bookstore chain Whitcoulls, kitchen specialist Stevens, department store chain Farmers Trading Company, jewellery chains Pascoes and Stewart Dawsons, and Australian jewellery chains Prouds, Angus & Coote and Goldmark, a total of more than 730 stores across New Zealand and Australia.

The move follows New Zealand’s only oil refinery, Refining NZ, announcing in March that it had switched support for its Oracle E-Business Suite for financial management to Rimini Street because Oracle support for its outdated version was both costly and inadequate.

James Pascoe’s head of IT, David Lean, said the company had been running a stable on-premise SAP ERP application system across all of its businesses for almost a decade, and spending a reasonable amount of money with SAP for maintenance and upgrades, but not getting a return for the dollars spent.

“With the switch to Rimini Street, we immediately saved on our annual support fees,’ Pascoe said. “The Company is helping us optimise our maintenance spend, giving us the opportunity to focus on more innovative programs that will help grow our future retail business.”

Rimini Street says every client is assigned a named primary service engineer who has a minimum of 10 years of experience in the applications and technology they support. It also guarantees clients can remain on their current software release without any upgrades for a minimum of 15 years and according to Rimini Street, provides support for customisations and ongoing tax, legal and regulatory updates around the world. The company claims to have about 1,900 customers.
