IBM systems integrator Certus Solutions has launched a new subsidiary, Cognition Studio describing it as “an alliance with IBM Australia and New Zealand,” that will offer “design thinking-led management consultancy powered by IBM Cloud.”
Cognition’s stated mission is to “empower organisations to transform, innovate and thrive by integrating a design thinking approach to the development of cognitive solutions that enhance people’s lives.”
Certus says Cognition’s services to clients will span a broad range of industries and will incorporate elements of IBM’s solution stack, including its cloud platform, Bluemix, as well as cognitive and artificial intelligence services via Watson to “provide enterprises with the perfect combination of people-centred design and agile development methods to improve solution development, efficiency and marketability.”
It adds: “Combined with design-thinking principles, these innovations are used to build solutions tailored to each company’s goals, vision and strategy.”
Cognition’s managing partner is Craig Parnham, the former CEO of Sush Mobile, former head of mobile products for Spark New Zealand and former general manager of Telstra Digital.
He says Cognition’s philosophy is to create outcomes centred on users to accelerate value creation. “Cognition is a change agent, bringing together elements from technology, design and business to manifest a new reality. It is at the intersection of three unique and complementary disciplines that Cognition fulfils its purpose.”
Certus has offered little information on the new company. A link to the Cognition web site (www.cognition.studio/home) in the announcement on the Certus web site simply returns to the announcement.
However www.cognition.studio does go to a one page new site that says, “Coming soon. We are working hard on the new version of our site. Stay tuned!” and offers a link to “our popup site” (http://www.cognition.studio/home1). It offers more information and invites potential customers to submit contact details.
Certus says Cognition is already working with a range of well-known brands to “realise its goal of using design led thinking to enhance human experiences across the commercial sector in Australia and New Zealand.”
