Dynamo6 adds Google Cloud talent, Deloitte gains AWS expertise

Dynamo6 claims to be the first Waikato born and bred company to become a Google Cloud partner

Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services have both strengthened their market position in New Zealand, with cloud services and bespoke software specialist Dynamo6 appointed a Google Cloud partner, and with Deloitte expanding its AWS and cloud infrastructure offerings by absorbing a team from AWS specialist, API Talent.

Dynamo6 claims to be the first Waikato born and bred company to become a Google Cloud partner following two of its senior systems engineers, Andrew Milne and Dominik Feiler, gaining Google Cloud certifications.

Dynamo6 managing director Igor Matich said addition of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) would add to Dynamo6’s existing Google expertise and enable it to provide Google’s full range of offering to clients in addition to the full suite of cloud services from all the main web services players.

“Some call this an agnostic approach to cloud but we think this is a very passive description, where we see our role as being very active in understanding a business first and then guiding it on the best cloud platform, or multi-cloud approach,” Matich said.

Deloitte absorbs API Talent

Deloitte said the team from API Talent — the first New Zealand provider to qualify for AWS DevOps competency and a certified AWS MSP Partner — would join its professional services team on 1 May.

API Talent’s co-owners Wyn Ackroyd and Sebastian Krueger will become Deloitte partners, and the API Talent team will join Deloitte in Wellington and Auckland from 1 May 2018.

“API Talent holds five service delivery certifications, and they have the most AWS certified people, in New Zealand,” Deloitte said.

Deloitte chief executive Thomas Pippos  said Deloitte and API Talent had worked successfully together on a number of client engagements designing and implementing cloud-native applications that used the full AWS feature set.

he said addition of the API Talent team would better position Deloitte to help clients realise the benefits of cloud computing and AWS-enable their business.

“The capabilities of the API Talent team are relevant for organisations of every size and across all sectors,” Pippos said.

“Many New Zealand organisations are in the early stages of building their AWS capability with a material wave of cloud adoption expected over the next three years consistent with global trends.”
