Spark New Zealand will offer cloud based unified communications services using technology from Cisco subsidiary Broadsoft.

According to Spark’s web site it already offers IP centrex and SIP trunking services based on Broadsoft, but the Broadsoft announcement made no mention of these.

Broadsoft says its BroadCloud calling platform will enable Spark to offer a complete suite of UC services based on the BroadSoft UC-One application including, instant messaging and presence, hosted voice, mobile client support, a full-featured soft client for computing devices, desktop and file sharing, virtual meeting rooms and voice and video conferencing.  The service will be branded Spark Cloud Phone.

Jonathan Reid, managing director worldwide sales for Cisco Cloud Calling said the new service would be brought to market “In the first half of the year.”

Spark head of business marketing Sally Gordon said introduction of the service was in response to customer demand. “Our business customers tell us they need a feature-rich calling solution that helps improve collaboration and can easily scale as their business needs change,” she said.

Spark’s web site says its SIP trunking service, Voice Connect is supported by “a resilient platform delivered by our partner Broadsoft,” and its IP Centrex service is “powered by the highly resilient Broadsoft platform.”
