Spark analytics arm, Qrious, to buy NOW Consulting

Qrious says the move is a step towards its goal of creating a unique data and analytics offering for the NZ market

Spark New Zealand owned data, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) business, Qrious is to acquire NOW Consulting, the data consulting division of WhereScape, the data warehouse consulting company founded in Auckland in 1997.

Qrious says the move is a step towards its goal of creating a unique data and analytics offering for the New Zealand market.

The move follows Qrious’ acquisition and integration of marketing automation business Ubiquity in 2017. It takes total staff to over 170 across Auckland and Wellington and, according to Qrious, makes it one of the largest data and analytics specialists in the country. It will also become the exclusive New Zealand reseller for WhereScape software.

NOW Consulting will be integrated into Qrious over the coming months with NOW Consulting CEO, David Morris, will join Qrious to head up the data platforms and infrastructure portfolio.

Qrious said the merged business would combine the data, analytics, AI and data-powered customer engagement capabilities of Qrious with NOW Consulting’s expertise and capability in data integration, engineering and visualisation.

Qrious CEO Nathalie Morris said there was a growing demand from New Zealand companies for foundational data solutions and services.

"The combined expertise of NOW Consulting and Qrious will offer customers access to a broader range of services, as well as a depth and breadth of talent and capability unique in the New Zealand market.

"Kiwi businesses increasingly understand that business success can be unlocked through data-driven insights."
