Auckland University appoints IT services director

University of Queensland IT executive Elizabeth Coulter to take up role

The University of Auckland has appointed Elizabeth Coulter as IT services director.

Coulter, who is currently associate director, strategy, planning and client relations for IT services at the University of Queensland, takes up the post in August.

She will report to Auckland University director of organisational performance and CIO Stephen Whiteside. She will be one of six direct reports Whiteside has; two of Whiteside's other direct reports will be Miles Fordyce, who will take up the role of director of the Office of the CIO, and John Pye, who will return to the associate director of of group applications role upon Coulter's arrival.

Pye is currently acting IT services director.

Coulter is herself a graduate of the University of Queensland, with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science, and an MBA.

In addition to her present role at the University, she has been actively involved in the IT community in Queensland, as an organiser of the AusCERT IT security conference and of the QuestNet (Queensland Education, Science and Technology Network) 2011 conference.

In this year's MIS 100 report Auckland University was ranked the fifth largest ICT user the country.
