NZ Alcatel-Lucent boss departs

Steve Lowe, who has headed Alcatel-Lucent’s New Zealand operation since 2008, is leaving the company.

His replacement is Jyoti Mahurkar-Thombre, formerly general manager of Alcatel-Lucent’s Next Generation Networks product unit.

According to a statement from Alcatel-Lucent announcing Lowe’s depature, “Steve and Jyoti will closely collaborate to smoothly transition the leadership role”.

The statement says that Lowe “has decided to leave the company”.

His departure follows rumours, reported by Computerworld on Friday, of departures following successive failures of Telecom's XT network, built by Alcatel-Lucent.

Mahurkar-Thombre will be based in New Zealand and report to Rajeev Singh-Molares, president of Alcatel-Lucent in the Asia Pacific region.
